THE ONE MILL AT WORK

More than a line on a tax bill.

It’s the teacher who stays. The safer campus. The first instrument.
An investment students experience every school day.

Read the oversight report

Keep great people in our schools.

Seventy percent of the One Mill goes to employee compensation. This investment helps Nassau County recruit and retain teachers and support staff—not just equip classrooms, but support the people who bring them to life.

2025–26 supplements vary by experience or contract days.

Make safety a daily priority.

The district reports CrisisAlert badges, upgraded security cameras and environmental sensors. The booklet says every traditional district school is equipped with the CENTEGIX system so staff can quickly notify emergency personnel.

School safety receives its own 12% allocation.

Give students room to discover.

Dedicated art teachers, new instruments and stocked art rooms expand creative opportunities. Athletics funding supports certified trainers at every high school, equipment, improved fields and tracks, and expanded programs.

Arts and athletics each receive 9% of One Mill funds.

WHAT THE RENEWAL COSTS A TYPICAL HOMEAbout 70¢ a day

No. The measure renews the existing voter-approved operating millage of up to 1 mill. Nassau County voters first approved the One Mill in November 2022. Renewal continues that local funding; it does not mean your total tax bill is fixed. Taxable property values and other levies can change.
